However, if left hardened, they become hard but brittle and prone to breaking, meaning they lack toughness. Therefore, it is necessary to reheat the steel immediately after hardening to enhance its toughness. This toughness is referred to as "toughness," and by increasing toughness, the durability against stretching and twisting is improved.
